Here are some photos from the May 21, 2008, Planning Meeting.
It's time for RC Boat Races - but participants are a bit lacking. These guys don't like boats anyway...
And this dude just flat doesn't seem to care about anything but more food!
Here's the W5ACM CRUISE SHIP! It scared off the fish AND the ducks!
OK - so back to the job at hand - we inspected BLT-23, and decided it was an excellent package. It just needs a little work and some new batteries, and we're good to go! Well, almost...
Thanks to Bill WA5VQH, we have NEW battery packs for FOUR flights! What a delight not to worry with 15-year-old batteries anymore. These 5-cell packs are rated for a nominal 15 VDC @ 11 Amp-hrs. As they say,... SWEET!
OK, so what do we do for an encore? Do we go for a sub-payload this time? Payload Master Mike WA5TWT dug into the archives and came up with a long-lost 2M FM to 10M DSB crossband link. I don't even remember the first time it flew! We decided this would be a good candidate if nothing else came along...
Here's a look at the 10M DSB transmitter board.
And this is the rather antique 2M FM receiver board. This could be fun. Does it all go up with BLT-24, or is there something better on the horizon??
Mike is happy. We had a good meeting. We will fly the proven payloads, fix the ones that failed last time, and have a nice, calm endeavor to the Edge Of Space,... unless something else rises to the occasion!
Launch is scheduled for 10 AM on August 23, 2008 from the Wharton Intergalactic Spaceport. Be There!!!
